About this listen
A Sci-Fi vs Fantasy epic.
Ithea: One planet, two continents, divided by more than a vast ocean.
In Anthar, a radical experiment changes the course of history; a vital resource is destroyed, a planet disappears, and an ancient, sentient death is unknowingly awoken in the depths of space. In Nephia, the Augurs of the Realms gather for the first time in a century to discuss the dire warnings from God. But some whisper of the Ulmar – God’s ultimate warrior – prophesied to unite the world against annihilation. To restore balance and avoid war, an Antharian expedition team must journey to Nephia to retrieve a God Stone.
©2024 G. G. Ross (P)2024 G. G. RossYou get hooked on the sci-fi world, and then the fantasy world comes and you get hooked on that. Then the 2 worlds intertwine - it's epic.
The concept is a multi-layered beast, revealed lightly piece by piece (some pieces yet to fall in place, so Book 2 please). But the story... the story's a high-stakes rush of blood: visceral, brutal, enthralling.
Did this one as an audiobook, so a word too for the narrator...
Just great. So clear and easy to follow. Want this guy's voice on googlemaps giving me directions when driving! (sounds like he might have a background in radio, maybe?)
I like listening to audiobooks while I cook/drive, but some readers can be annoying and sort of get in the way of enjoying the book.
This guy was excellent. He was "in" it - telling you the story, not reading it at you.
Also really enjoyed the way he did all the characters with different voices/accents,etc. Made it so easy to follow and really engaging. Hats off.
Binge-worthy, HOOKED. Book 2, please!
