About this listen

The Guardian of Orth
A secret planet. A schoolgirl with hidden power. A galaxy on the brink of war.

Twelve-year-old Charlie Lane never expected her school day to end with a galactic distress call in a toilet cubicle. One moment, she's wiping black paint off her hands, the next she's talking to a bearded stranger beamed from another world—a world under siege. Orth is in danger, and only she can save it.

In another part of the galaxy, Kulag the Destroyer, a grizzled veteran of interplanetary conflict, has uncovered a terrifying pattern. Something ancient and powerful is awakening, targeting planets one by one. All signs now point to Orth.

As Charlie’s ordinary life collides with extraordinary destiny, she must navigate talking projections, witches atop Bubble Gum Mountain, and a growing darkness threatening the entire Ruby Galaxy. Meanwhile, Kulag races through space aboard the Molewarp, determined to stop the enemy before it reaches Orth—but he can’t do it alone.

Bound by fate and separated by light-years, Charlie and Kulag must discover the truth behind the ancient Guardians, the source of the chaos, and Charlie’s unexpected role in the universe’s most desperate hour.

Perfect for fans of A Wrinkle in Time, Keeper of the Lost Cities, and Percy Jackson, The Guardian of Orth is a thrilling sci-fi fantasy adventure full of wonder, courage, and the discovery that even the smallest voice can change the fate of worlds.

The Guardian of Orth is exactly what young readers who love magical sci-fi adventures need! Charlie Lane is such a relatable heroine—brave, funny, and believable as she goes from an ordinary girl to the universe’s hope. The story is fast-paced with plenty of twists, weird creatures, and even witches on Bubble Gum Mountain! It reminded me of my first time reading Percy Jackson—highly recommended for middle graders and young teens.
