It left me speechless! An impeccable work...

I'm speechless! Who am I to comment and rate such a work that was done in not only life threatening conditions of the gulag labor camps of Soviet Union but also soul threatening. Man doesn't only loose hope but his conscience in such dungenos of purely confined hell.

The Gulag Archipelago is written by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn in the most dire of consequences; he survived 8 years in different types of gulag labor camps of Soviet Union in the mid 20th century. This work was partly written in prison, in a secluded part of Estonia and in some other places. Solzhenitsyn elaborates the story of his and others' survival in the rule of Soviet Russia on the very edge of life and death.

After reading this, I'm able to put the next foot out in possibly every situation of my life, no matter what.

Bread & Sugar is earned! A must read.

Should be required reading in schools

An absolutely essential read and the book communists won't want you to own. A cautionary tale based on historic fact - it makes 1984 read like light comedy.

Totalitarian Communist brutality and murder.

Communism achieved one thing: to not be judged like the nazis and jet they killed more people and produce more horror that socialist party.
This book unveils this truth like few ever will, and few will want to believe that such evil was committed in the name of socialism and Communism, it is too inconvenient a truth for the leftist of the world, their main excuse is that they never had true communism, well thank F... for that, I can not imagine more horror than was produce trying to achieve it.
Usually, a book like this one takes me a bit more than a week to finish but it took two months, the horror was so devastating and consistent I could not take it; it is of such profundity that you feel sick in your heart that humans did this to other humans is believable but not comprehensible.
Please read it and learn the truth of what Communism has recreated several times, eliminating millions of PEOPLE in the name of progress the left and its inteligencia has allowed this to happen all over the world but have never truly criticized this history and always defend it because they see them selfs as superior to the humanity they want to control at any cost.

A must-read

The story is mind boggling and truly fascinating. We, as humans, need to understand and remember how cruel we can be so we don’t commit the same crimes again.

The audio is excellent and the narrator is doing a really good job of pronouncing the Russian words and names.

A masterpiece of narration

I was introduced to this title by Jordan Peterson. Knowing of the length, depth and darkness of this subject matter, was worried that this may not hold my interest. Boy was I wrong. This is read, no, performed by Alexander's son, Ignat: the perfect person to read this to western ears. He is an educated westerner (a celebrated symphony conductor) with a well spoken American accent, who, oweing to his Russian heritage, properly pronounces the Russian places names, terms and phrases that are neccesary to explain the tale properly, adding to the authenticity. You can tell that he wanted to honour his father with his performance of this work, and it really shows. Interested and gripped from start to finish. You don't need self help books to feel happier, you need to listen to what real unhappiness can be, and how that can put your first world problems in total perspective.

Great book and great classic

Book that should be red at least once by everyone. what was happening in gulags in soviet union is reproduce today. Book that can give an insight how navigate this world that we have created.
