About this listen
The Haunting of Briarwych Church is a horror story about a dead woman's anger and about a terrible quest for revenge.
The year is 1942. Britain is in the grip of the Second World War, bringing blackout conditions to much of the country.
For several years, Briarwych Church has remained locked and unused. Arriving to take up his new position, Father Lionel Loveford's first task is to open the great wooden door and get the church back into use. But something lurks in the shadows.
A terrible tragedy once took place in Briarwych, and now the locals live in fear of a vengeful spirit that has sometimes been spotted looking out from the church's windows. Although he doesn't believe in ghosts, Father Loveford soon discovers that the entire village of Blackwych lives in a perpetual state of guilt and terror.
Does the ghost of Judith Prendergast really haunt the church, and, if so, what does she want from the villagers?

Good story. Not too scary and ending in hope for the future. Will look for the sequels .

Good
This is a decent ghost story set years ago and written in the old style but that suits it.

A Haunting Story!
J loved this story!. Any Cross always writes excellent stories and this is no exception!. After the church has been shut for two years, a new Vicar is sent to get the congregation back into church.Christopher Weeks narrates it so well that the story comes alive!. Highly recommend this book and I shall be reading the next two in this series about Briarwych Church!.

A good short read
The narrator makes this story, I think it’s a perfect match. It was a good short read, I enjoyed it and would recommend.

Fantastic story line
Great story line from the outset, once started, it was difficult to stop listening until the end! Well read and very easy to imagine the characters and places within the storyline.
Will definitely listen to this one again and will look for other titles from this author.

A good gothic ghost story
The narration was excellent, I thought, with the intonations of the time (1940s Britain). A decent ghost story with a creeping sense of menace, and plot twists near the end, which is always good.

The twist.
I felt that it lost its way a little, although, a good story with a bit of a twist.

Gripping
Good story although the narrator could have put more feeling into it. I also the thought the characters were weak but perhaps because of the era in which the story was told accounted for this

Interesting Characters
i didn't necessarily like everything about the main character. But his flaws really only made the story more interesting, for the most part.
If you like classic spooky stories, this one is pretty great.

Short ghost story
This is a short listen (not quite 6 hours) about a priest, Father Lionel Loveford, who arrives at Briarwych church to take up his new position and finds that the villagers will not enter as they believe the church is haunted. But Father Lovelord does not believe in ghosts.
I enjoyed the setting in a small village during the second world war and the story itself was interesting, though not very scary and I did find Father Lovelord's character very irritating and sanctimonious. I will probably listen to the next book in the series.
