About this listen

In the vein of The Time Traveler's Wife and Life After Life, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is New York Times best-selling author V. E. Schwab's genre-defying tour de force.

When Addie La Rue makes a pact with the devil, she trades her soul for immortality. But there's always a price - the devil takes away her place in the world, cursing her to be forgotten by everyone. Addie flees her tiny home town in 18th-century France, beginning a journey that takes her across the world, learning to live a life where no one remembers her and everything she owns is lost and broken. Existing only as a muse, she learns to fall in love anew every single day. Until one day, in a second-hand bookshop in Manhattan, Addie meets someone who remembers her. Suddenly thrust back into a real, normal life, Addie realises she can't escape her fate forever.

Okay but a bit depressing

The story is a dry, a bit slow and slightly depressing. It’s
a solid story, well written but I’m debating if I want to finish listening (I’m 8 hours in).

The narration is pretty good except for the French accent that occasionally drifts into Germanic.

Brilliant!

I loved this book. Excellent storytelling and narration. And the way Luc says "Adelane".... shivers!! This is one I'd love to see made into a movie

I'll remember Addie La Rue

Lovely love story with some interesting twists a long the way. The narrator had a great melodious voice.

loved it!

One of the best books I've listened too this year. So different from your traditional romance novel.

Woven to perfection

This story is long but from start to finish I was gripped. Not my usual genre, but I loved every minute twist and turn. I'll definitely listen again.

Love, love, love this book, simply gorgeous

What can I say about this book? Let me start with it is beautiful. I loved every minute of it. I will be looking out for more work from V.E. Schwab. Unfortunately, I can't find any at the moment. Not on Audible at any rate.
Julia Whelan did a fantastic job with the narration.
I don't usually re-read (re-listen) to books as I usually feel I know the story and don't need to go over it again, however, this was so precious that I will be revisiting it again and again.
You won't be disappointed if you buy this book.

Good listen

Enjoyed this book, felt a little bit familiar in places as it reminded me in part of other stories but overall I liked the twists and turns, the narration and would recommend this book to others.

best book I've read this year.

Couldn't put it down and was sorry when it finished. A clever mix of romance and history. You'll love it.
