Lovely story

First of all the narration of this audiobook was excellent. It really drew me in and helped create the story. The world building was lovely & surroundings picturesque- (the only other books I have felt this way on were Where the Crawdads Sing and The Great Alone) it’s a love story played out over time but has its frustrations.

You can tell it is a good book when you get so caught up in the characters you get angry with them! The amount of times I muttered out loud listening to this book. Probably an unpopular opinion but I am Team Jack & Sarah. Ellie and her family, to me, were disgusting towards Aunt Clara never once visiting knowing she was all alone. At first I thought it was the distance , but then throughout the story they acknowledged it was within a days travel. Once leaving at breakfast & arriving at her hometown by 2pm. No excuse for not visiting , especially when she had summers off from teaching. Saying it would be hard in case she saw Jack, her aunt had literally lost the love of her life and was all alone. Selfish much. This sums up Ellie and her selfishness throughout the book. If Michael hadn’t ditched her she would still be with him & it would be Jack who. I wonder what become of Sarah. I’m pleased Jack was happy but I disliked Ellie
