About this listen
The Lily and the Crown is a lesbian scifi romance about daring to risk your heart with someone you shouldn’t.
Ariana “Ari” Geiker lives an isolated life on an imperial space station commanded by her father. The skilled, young botanist rarely leaves her living quarters, where she maintains an elaborate garden. When an imperious older woman is captured from a pirate ship and given to her as a slave, Ariana’s perfectly ordered life is thrown into chaos. Her nameless slave is watchful, intelligent, dangerous, and sexy, and seems to know an awful lot about tactics, star charts, and the dread, marauding pirate queen, Mir.
What happens when the slave also reveals an expertise in seduction to her innocent mistress?

The story is about Ari and she is the imperial station commander’s daughter and it’s set in space on a space station. Ari is a very private person who loves her garden and spends most of her time alone in her large room with her garden. Until her father gives her a slave he has caught, he gives her the slave as a companion as he is worried she spends to much time alone, and in most of the book Ari calls her assistant as the slave doesn’t want a name and won’t tell Ari her real name.
It’s a sweet romantic and funny story.
I will say my favourite was Ari and I was like aww she is so sweet, then I was like aww poor Ari and I felt so sorry for her.
The ending was brilliant but I won’t say what happens as it will spoil the story.
The narration was excellent and really added to the book.
Love in space

If you’re on the fence about whether this is the kind of book you’d enjoy, give it a go. I held off on this for about a year, and wish I’d have listened to it soon.
Excellent writing and excellent narration. 5*
Surprisingly good!

I admit though I couldn’t give a 5 overall as sometimes Ariana’s naivety just made me cringe! Personal taste more than anything though. Definitely worth a listen!
Very good indeed!
