About this listen

The Little Village Library is a heartwarming story about kindness, community and new beginnings, perfect for fans of Cathy Bramley and Rachael Lucas

One of Woman & Home's top five feel-good fiction.

It takes a village....

Cloverdale is known for its winding roads, undulating hills and colourful cottages and, more recently, its Library of Things. Need a ladder, a hedge trimmer or a waffle maker? You can borrow it from the Library of Things.

Single dad Adam is doing a good job of raising his daughter Zoe whilst burying his past and moving forwards. When he joins the Library of Things and agrees to run a mending workshop, new friendships start to blossom.

Jennifer is a volunteer at the Library of Things. When her younger sister Isla moves back to Cloverdale after their mother dies, Jennifer finds herself wondering whether Isla is hiding something.

And when Adam's daughter Zoe makes a startling discovery, it's time for the people at the Library of Things to pull together and help one family with its biggest challenge of all.

This is a novel with community at its heart. It's about the kindness we can find when we least expect it and the bonds we can form when we're not even looking.

Poor beginning. Fantastic and deep conclusion!

I nearly stopped listening to this audiobook as I got a little fed up of all the characters having a secret that was referred to but not explained. It was repetitive and not good writing. Once you all the stories are explained the second part of the book is much stronger and more honest. It’s definitely something special compared to a lot of chick lit. I think it’s such a shame the impending secrets weren’t managed better at the beginning.

I loved it!

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Interesting characters, not as predictable as some in the genre - which doesn’t necessarily put me off if it’s a good writer - but this was a different take altogether. I thought I’d sussed it out early on - but I wasn’t close at all. Enjoyed the performance, good differentiation of characters. I didn’t want this one to end.

Gripping

Brilliant story. I don't understand how Helen can write such a wide variety of stories each one on a different theme. The library of things is such an great idea.

Lighthearted read

Lighthearted read if a little predictable. It's my least favourite download on Audible so far.

A lovely book

A lovely listen as the narrator Karen Cass had a very clear voice which is sometimes not always the case.
An excellent book I highly recommend it as a good listen

Delivery

The story delivery had a strange delivery speed that I couldn’t alter to be a comfortable listen through the playback speeds. I felt a it a literally hard listen.
