About this listen
An epic first love. A second chance . . .
'One of our most prolific and talented writers’ – Santa Montefiore
Young Flora MacQueen has always dreamt of more than life on the small Scottish island of St Kilda. So, when she catches the eye of visiting adventurer and wealthy businessman James Callaghan, her future seems brighter.
Winter seas separate the lovers but the island’s evacuation the following summer promises to reunite them – until tragedy strikes.
Heartbroken and needing to support her family on the mainland, a chance meeting offers hope. Soon Flora is the toast of glamorous Paris; fame and fortune are hers for the taking. But at a high price.
When a scandal erupts back home, she is implicated, along with her friends, Effie and Mhairi. But then a deception comes to light that will change everything . . .
The Lost Lover is Book Three in Karen Swan's bestselling Wild Isle series, following The Last Summer and The Stolen Hours.

Loving this series
Such a great story, but the ending.. so sudden! And so long to wait for next book!
Would love to see this as a TV series!

Good to catch up with the girls again.
A different take on the mystery that occurred on St Kilda, this time from Flora's perspective. I like how all the pieces are starting to come together and bits are being revealed that weren't evident in the first two books. I found the ending a little rushed though, some events almost a bit too twee in an effort to round the book off and crack on with the next. I didn't see the twist though. Can't believe I have to wait til next year for another book to get to the conclusion though. , or maybe Karen Swan will decide tol spin it out into another couple of books, who knows!

Wonderful story
I waited for number three in the series. It was worth the wait. I felt that it didn’t start the new book well, going over parts of book2 and then after all that the ending was sudden and not enough time spent at the end to complete that part of the story.

The story gets more complicated!
More of the events on the last days on St Kilda are revealed, but not all, and tantalisingly we need to wait a year to find out the whole story of the mystery. What a pity the book was not narrated by either of those who read the first two. The attempts at accents spoilt things, but it is an absorbing story so one persists!

Couldn't put it down
Third title in the series didnt disappoint with the only downside being that I now have to wait patiently for the forth book. Karen Swan's descriptions bring everything vividly to life. "she longed to live somewhere her hair would stay still..." as a fellow islander in the Western Isles you've put into words something we've thought for decades!!

Fantastic
Karen Swan is such a wonderful author, and … for the first time ever listening to an audiobook … I found the narrator to be equally brilliant.
This is the third book in a series. If you have not listened to any of them, you have a delightful time ahead.
