About this listen
From the author of the highly rated Ruins Of Mars Trilogy: The Man from Rome is a pulse pounding mythological thriller, set in modern-day Rome.
When the brutalized body of a young woman is dredged from the Tiber river, an ancient vendetta between warring immortals flares to life once more. The ensuing fallout unleashes violence and chaos upon the streets of Rome, the likes of which few are equipped to handle. Those that are, take sides, turning Rome into a theater or war; a battleground of supernatural savagery.
Complete with stunning set pieces, a wiley cast of characters, and a location befitting of the action, The Man from Rome is sure to thrill and entertain.

So to start with i would of given 3.5 stars but felt was better than just good.
The premise of the story is fantastic, Gods, ancients and a load of things in between based in the modern world. I really liked how the author managed to keep the characters authentic to both their mythology but the realities of modern day life incorporating many different aspects into a well woven tale.
The story sucked me in from the first scene and I managed to listen to the whole story within a few days.
I am not a big one for spoilers so I wont go into details I just felt that the pace of the book changed over the last 1/4 and I felt that it was rushed along faster than I would of liked this may of not been as big a factor for me if I hadn't felt absorbed within the story and the world that the author had created. The book ultimately ended in a pleasing way and I would definitely recommend it.
The narrator was new to me but the pronunciation, Tone and Cadence was spot on.
Great premise, Very Good execution

I loved this novel just as I loved reading the Greek and Roman stories of their gods _ I won't call them myths as who knows maybe those past tales all a garbled oral history.
I admit took me a couple of chapters to really fall into the story but once I did I was hooked and stayed hooked to the end and I want to go along on the quest I hope its chronicled. The book is a complete account and the quest which I speak is a totally different tale so don't worry.
Should you read it - yes, will you love it, well unless your a purest who believe immortal beings have vanished (died, sleeping, vanished a puff of smoke) I cannot see why you wouldn't....nothing to lose as Audible will give you credit back if you don't like it.
Can I give you any titbits, no not without spoilers sorry.
Harry Frost has the perfect voice for all characters of all sexes.
I was lucky enough to be given this book for free in the hope I write a review. I write only truthful reviews so if I say I enjoyed it I did and happy to put my credit where my mouth is and buy the next in the series if it ever is written and appears on Audible.
Gods and Demigods in modern Rome = chaos
