Brilliant narration and story

I loved Cherry and Gladys' accents and Miss Marple's reaction to Mrs Knight! Very entertaining.

The Mirror Cracked

Not my favourite AC book but kept me entertained over a few dog walks. It goes on a wee bit but was a BOGOF so can’t complain. Narration was good.

Marvelous Miss Marple!

This, my first Audible listen to an Agatha Christie book, was pure pleasure & perfectly performed by actress Emilia Fox.
Although familiar with the story from a screen adaptation, and knowing the far reaching health consequences of being infected with German Measles whilst pregnant, the unravelling of the mystery was still enthralling. It is timeless piece, as how can one not be delighted with the old fashioned but insightful musings of marvelous Miss Marple?

Glad I bought it

Personally, I don’t understand why the narration got so many negative reviews. I have heard some terrible ones on here, this wasn’t one of them.
I hadn’t read this book, I had watched the Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor version, so I knew the story.
For Marple lovers, she probably actually isn’t in it (the story) enough but I enjoyed it.

Emilia Fox does wondeful job of narrating

Such a great story and performed so well. Looking forward to more unabridged Miss Marple stories narrated by Emilia Fox.

An excellent mystery

A very good Agatha Christie story, not simply for the murder mystery itself but for the social context and the examination of changing times. Miss Marple is wonderful, particularly in her dealings with her annoying lady companion Miss Knight. Emilia Fox also does a very good job of narrating the story.

VOCAL FRY!!!

Disappointed that this is the only narration available. Not a relaxing voice for listening to, I’m constantly wincing at the vocal cry and her character voices are extremely irritating. Some narrators can make you float away into the story but Ms Fox sounds a student forced to read aloud in class. However, Dame Agatha doesn’t disappoint and I have no complaints about the story.

Great Christie!

I’ve known this story for many years now but my first audiobook of it. May I say the narration was superb, as you would expect from the extremely professional Emilia Fox and as so many audiobooks are disappointing owing to dreadful narration, this is definitely not one of them. Here’s hoping that convincingly good narration is on the top of all authors lists in the future as it is so very important to the listener and brings the story to life. Agatha Christie stories in my view still hold premium spot for a good old fashion ‘whodunit’.

Typical Agatha

I've previously only seen this story on TV, played by the only Miss Marple in my opinion, Joan Hickson.

The story moves along quite slowly really but is a good listen with plenty of background and quite a few differences to the TV series.

Enjoyable, but probably only a one-time listen for me.
