About this listen
The O’Connell family collides with danger in this shocking new story from NY Times and USA Today best-selling author Lorhainne Eckhart.
Eighteen years ago, Luke O’Connell’s father was there one day, gone the next. His mother sat him and his siblings down and told them their father was gone and that it was just them now, and they wouldn’t be seeing him again. But Luke never believed his father could just walk away from a family he’d said he loved. Now, from his role within a secretive military organization, he uses the intelligence he can access to follow leads on his father, but each is a dead end.
Luke finds himself endlessly embroiled in deadly missions from secret bases, posing as a civilian for front companies, and tracking national enemies to capture or kill. But now, his questions have brought trouble back with him onto US soil, all the way to his hometown - and, ultimately, his quest might put his family in the line of fire.

Suspense and Action!
Luke has dedicated his life to serving his country however he is feeling unsettled in part due to his last mission and in part due to the complications that have arisen in the search he launched for his father who disappeared almost two decades earlier.
He has chosen to face danger on a daily basis but when his family gets caught in the crossfire there is nothing he won’t do to not only protect them but discover the truth about how it happened as well.
This story in the series is primarily focused on the suspense and the romance part of the story is secondary. The narrator did a great job at bringing out both the danger and emotion of the storyline. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

Enjoyed it
Interesting story with a cast of characters I didn't know, but it didn't seem to matter. I followed what was going on and while I may have missed some nuances that having heard the other books in the series might have given I still enjoyed the book. John Mo did a good job with the characters.

I like it
I feel like I really should go back and read these books in order. I think it will help me like the book better. I also feel the books could be a little longer and a little more drawn out. I don't hate the books. I think they are pretty great. I just crave more.

My favourite book in the series so far.
So far this is my favourite book in The O'Connells series. With a gripping plot that was written in such away that it kept me on edge and desperate for more. The Missing Father had a complex intense storyline. Luke's latest mission is not only shocking, but threatens his belief in the forces for which he serves. The shocking twists and turns that follow are completely gripping, right to the end.
John Mo delivers an outstanding performance with great character representation and an intensity that brought the story to life.

Heart stopping action and suspense!
Wow, this story really packed a punch. I’d been wondering about Luke because what he does has kind of been teased in previous stories but the stuff really hits the fan in this book. John Mo did a great job performing this story and I’m pleased that he will be performing others in this series.
While the first part of this story is about Luke trying to find out about his missing father, the more interesting part is what happen after he and his team follow orders and perform a secret op that most of them aren’t too happy about. While the mission is completed successfully, the ramifications of what they did come back to bite Luke and endanger his family.
I loved every bit of this book!

Good story, not a romance
To me, this is not a romance. This doesn't take away from the fact that this is a good story though. Following Luke O'Connell, he accidentally draws his family into the line of fire, where a mad man wants to use Luke and takes his brother's family as collateral. It was fast paced and really interesting, keeping me interested. I find this more as a set up to help us continue to understand the o'Connell's rather than a standalone novel.
I listened to the audiobook and it was so well done. I loved how there were sound effects, such as when people are hearing each other through a radio, which then ends up being a little more staticky. It was really well done and I enjoyed John Mo's reading overall.
