Summary

THE BRAND NEW HEART-POUNDING GOTHIC THRILLER FROM THE INTERNATIONALLY BESTSELLING AUTHOR

Everyone believes that Lenora Hope is a mass murderer.

When the Hope family was massacred decades ago, she was the only one left after that tragic night.

Mute, paralysed and confined to a wheelchair, Lenora has never been able to tell her side of the story.

Until her new live-in caregiver Kit brings her a typewriter.

And with one working finger Lenora begins to type:

I want to tell you everything.

Loved it!

Riley Sagar is back on form with this one. Finished it in one sitting, more or less. Not scary or a thriller per se, but such an absorbing story, full of unexpected twists and turns. Narration was excellent too. Highly recommended.

Riley Sager slays again

one of my favorite Riley Sager stories, very gothic and lots of twists to keep you guessing. The ending requires was a bit too out there for me but overall I loved it

Worth A Read

I enjoyed this book and didn’t see all the twists coming. Don’t know why I didn’t like it more but it is defo worth a read. Really liked the narrator

Absolutely loved it!

Literally kept me on the edge of my seat. Loved every twist and turn. Once you think you know, it twists again and you’re back to square one. I usually can predict the ending but not this time! Each character is important and it all comes together at the end. Brilliant!

More than the sum of its parts

This book pulls off something incredibly clever by being a haunting, gothic ghost story—without any actual ghosts. The setting, characters, and the way the plot unfolds feel like something Mike Flanagan might adapt into a Netflix series… if only there were a supernatural element. But that’s not a complaint. Riley Sager skillfully walks a tightrope, teasing readers throughout, and the payoff is deeply satisfying. Of the many twists and turns, I only saw one coming, but that worked for me, as it distracted from the more subtle surprises. Some critics claim the story is far-fetched, but I can only wonder when fiction was ever expected to be otherwise.

Regina Reagan and Stephanie Cannon deliver stellar performances. The only minor issue is that Regina Reagan’s male voices all sound the same—and not particularly convincingly male.

The perfect roadtrip towards a brick wall

There's a lot to like about this book, and n for the majiority of it has me captivated and excited to read the next chapter, but by the time the ending comes around all excitement is gone and replaced with frustration over the need to throw unnecessary twists into every nook and cranny.

The ending makes several situations in the book make no sense, and the big twist which I will not spoil in this review kind of ruined it for me.

Overall I enjoyed the book because the journey towards the end was really nice and exciting, but man the ending just took the air out of me and then the end I was just excited for the book to be over.

The characters are mostly well written and the book is well read, but there's a lingering frustration where the main character sometimes acts the opposite of what you would do in real life.

the biggest waist however is that it drops several threads which you would expect to be picked up later on, but by the time you would expect these threads to be iterated upon the book is already over. Slight spoiler but man the cop is such a wasted character and a failed attempt at a red herring.

I realize this review sounds overly negative so I want to iterate that the book is still worth listening to, but don't expect the quality of Agatha Christie.

Utterly Brilliant.

This book is just perfect. I couldn’t stop listening.
Absolute perfection of a story.
I cannot recommend enough.
I read three books a week and this is right up there.
If you’re looking for a perfect whodunnit with twists you’ll never see coming then listen to this book.
Though beware, you won’t get anything else done till it’s finished.
