About this listen

1943. As war sweeps across Europe, Max Carver's father moves his family away from the city, to an old wooden house on the coast. But as soon as they arrive, strange things begin to happen: Max discovers a garden filled with eerie statues; his sisters are plagued by unsettling dreams and voices; a box of old films opens a window to the past.

Most unsettling of all are rumours about the previous owners and the mysterious disappearance of their son. As Max delves into the past, he encounters the terrifying story of the Prince of Mist, a sinister shadow who emerges from the night to settle old scores, then disappears with the first mists of dawn . . .

Originally published in Spain as a young adult novel, THE PRINCE OF MIST is a mesmerising tale of mystery, romance and adventure.

Put this on during a school trip with a 5 hour journey - my S2 pupils were enthralled by the story (to my surprise), as was I.

Looking forward to more of his books for children being translated into English.

Perfect for a journey

Another beautiful and spooky mystery from Zafon; I absolutely loved it. Only criticism would be that I wished it was twice as long!

Amazing, as usual!

Another wonderful woven tale of mystery and intrigue. Skilfully read. A treat for young adults and not so young ones!

Brilliant and a little unnerving

Why did the narrator use a Welsh accent for theighthouse keeper.?Just didn't fit the story.

Fascinating story.

well written

Very amateurish writing eg far too telling. Didn't evoke the period of WWII at all eg many people didn't have telephones, food and clothes was rationed etc. Lighthouses are owned by Trinity House not by individuals and lighthouse keepers are employed by them.

Poorly written and researched
