About this listen

Since his brother's death, Benny Bianchi has been nursing his grudge against the woman he thinks led to his brother's downfall. He does this to bury the feelings he has for Francesca Concetti, his brother's girl. But when Frankie takes a bullet while on the run with Benny's cousin's woman, Benny has to face those feelings. The problem is Frankie has decided she's paid her penance. Penance she didn't deserve to pay. She's done with Benny and the Bianchi family. She's starting a new life away from Chicago and her heartbreaking history.

Benny has decided differently. But Frankie has more demons she's battling. Demons Benny wants to help her face. But life has landed so many hard knocks on Frankie, she's terrified of believing in the promise of Benny Bianchi and the good life he's offering. Frankie's new life leads her to the 'Burg, where Benny has ties, and she finds not only has she not succeeded in getting away--she doesn't want to.

About the Creator

Kristen Ashley is the New York Times bestselling author of over 80 romance novels. She’s a hybrid author, publishing titles both independently and traditionally. Her books have been translated in 14 languages and she’s sold millions of books. In March, she released the The Girl in The Woods, the second in her romantic thriller series, Misted Pines. And her latest audiobook is Perfect Together, a second chance romance that will break your heart and then put it back together stronger than before. She also published Too Good To be True, her first-ever murder mystery romance in an episodic format on Kindle Vella. Kristen, born in Gary and raised in Brownsburg, Indiana, and was a fourth-generation graduate of Purdue University. Since, she has lived in Denver, the West Country of England, and she now resides in Phoenix. She worked as a charity executive for 18 years prior to beginning her independent publishing career. She now writes full-time. Although romance is her genre, the prevailing themes running through all of Kristen’s novels are friendship, family and a strong sisterhood. To this end, and as a way to thank her readers for their support, Kristen has created the Rock Chick Nation, a series of programs that are designed to give back to her readers and promote a strong female community. Would be amazing if...

Where does The Promise (The 'Burg Series) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Love the story, love Kristen Ashley. But I found it really annoying to listen to the book and cringing every time an Italian name/surname was pronounced. Surely, the lady reading the book was told/ taught on how to pronounce certain sounds! Arghh...such a shame as it takes away the pure pleasure of listening to a great story.

What did you like best about this story?

Love Frankie's attitude and the whole 'The Burg' series

Would you listen to another book narrated by Amanda Bruton?

Too much bad language

I got as far as Chapter 4 and decided I’d had enough of the bad language. The narrators voice almost put me to sleep, just droning on. I suppose the story may have been good but I didn’t find out.
