Once the Audible team had read Anna Ellory’s debut novel The Rabbit Girls there was no question that this was a story we wanted to share with members. Dramatic, heart-breaking and beautifully written; the power of the story has only been heightened by Gemma Arterton and Simon Callow’s astounding narration.

We follow Miriam in a dual narrative as she learns more about the 'Frieda' her father calls out for and her parents' war-time love story, alongside the pain and terror Miriam herself faces daily at the hands of her abusive husband. Entwined in the sadness of both stories are glimmers of hope, sisterly solidarity and friendship.

The characters were beautifully drawn and the narrators excellent.

While the subject of this book and some of the content is harrowing to listen to, the characters and journey of their lives captivate you as a listener. It is both deeply emotional and gently uplifting.

Thought I had made a mistake with this book at the beginning but persevered and so glad I did ! It is beautifuly narrrated , the story is powerful and the use of language is superb

This is a very clever book which is really a lbeautiful ove story, which is set against the cruel and brutal contrast of the nazi concentration camps. Well written, narrated and presented.

This isnt the normal sort of book i like but thoroughly enjoyed the cerebal nature of this.
