About this listen
The Savant is speculative fiction exploring social, religious, and political issues. The year is 2044, and college student Tommy Browne faces a problem he does not want. The source of Tommy’s problem is a magnum opus created decades earlier by a man he barely knew, Kyle Ignatius Llano, a man young Tommy Browne called Uncas. Kyle’s manuscript, Cogitatio Universum, challenges centuries-old ideas underpinning the core of contemporary Western thought. As such, Cogitatio Universum threatens the political and religious establishment.
Kyle Ignatius Llano is not your average intellect. Kyle Ignatius Llano is not your average orphan. And Kyle Ignatius Llano is not your average rebel.
Kyle’s work is aided and abetted by a supernatural phenomenon, Steph. Steph is a ghost and Steven Hawking’s doppelganger. Steph is not your average ghost. He is a counterpoint to Kyle’s establishment-shattering ideas, a loyal friend, an antagonist, and the glue that connects Kyle to the people who love him. For Tom Browne, Steph is a sometimes pain in the ass; here, there, and everywhere, yet Steph is the first to run at the sign of danger.
Richie Richardson, the son and grandson of a long line of religious, is Kyle’s contemporary. On a life journey parallel to Kyle’s, Richie’s journey takes him into the center of Kyle’s revolt and, ultimately, the source of Tommy Browne’s dilemma.
