I always enjoy audibles delivered by Hugh Fraser and this is a good story, one of my favourite Agatha Christie’s.

What a great story this is, another winner from Agatha Christie and read so well by Hugh Fraser , was good to hear his voice again.

There's no Poirot or Marple to solve this 1931 mystery. Instead, the sleuth is feisty Emily Trefusis, a beautiful, thoroughly modern girl about town. She charms and cajoles secrets out of everyone in a bid to free her fiancé who's arrested for murder. But, as she solves the case, does she exonerate her man or fall in love with a new partner in crime?

Having a single young woman as the sleuth was ground-breaking at the time and definitely inspired more in this genre like The Lady Vanishes and the film adaptation of The 39 Steps, (the book had no female lead at all). Sadly, tv adaptations replace Emily with Christie's more famous Poirot or Marple. But on a good note, they change the plot too, so you may not know who dunnit!

Hugh Fraser's narration is spot on, as ever, and snowbound Dartmoor is the perfect location for this atmospheric mystery. Enjoy!

I loved this - very well read.the story moves swiftly. the main character is charming. the snowy settings makes it a nice winter read. a few interesting plot turns.

Dear old Mr Hugh Fraser is, of course, a wonderful narrator of Christie books. Loved his work here.

If you’ve watched the wonderful tv adaptation of Sittaford House, the original is soooo different!!

I can't say there were any particular momentous moments but there also weren't any dull bits. The narration was spot on and the variety of voices splendid. All in all I would highly recommend this story. Would be a great addition to take on holiday.
