Summary

Our generation has COVID-19. In Poe's day, cholera could decimate entire populations. Poe escapes the epidemic in New York City by traveling to a cottage in Northern New York state. Everything is fine until he looks out his window and sees a gigantic beast moving down the hillside across the Hudson.
