About this listen

The Spook and his apprentice, Thomas Ward, deal with the dark.

Together they rid the county of witches, ghosts and boggarts. But now they have unfinished business to attend to in Priestown. Deep in the catacombs of the cathedral, lurks the Spook’s nemesis - the Bane. A creature he has never been able to defeat. As Thomas and his master prepare for the battle of their lives it becomes clear that the Bane isn’t their only enemy in town. The Quisitor has arrived, searching the county for those who meddle with the dark – witches, warlocks and Spooks! When the Spook is arrested and sentenced to death it's up to Thomas, with a little help from his old friend Alice, to rescue his master and destroy the curse of Priestown

Narrator clinches the deal

Absolutely perfect narrator, the accent matches the books perfectly. Story is as good as ever, characters well rounded.

Great books great narration.

I read these books a while back then noticed them on here and couldn't resist. I'd recommend starting with the first book the spooks apprentice if your new to the series. narrator is perfect for these stories. sucks you in. All in all great.

Well that escalated quickly

An impressive follow up to the first book in the Ward Stone Chronicles. The tension never lets up throughout the entire story. Truly gripping.

Shame about narrator’s accent

Great story but found the narrator’s accent an irritant. It’s full of glottal stops - coun’y for county; wa’er for water, etc. It sounds like a Londoner putting on a Lancashire accent. The east Lancashire accent, which is where our characters come from, puts a heavy emphasis on a T. I’ve never heard a Lancastrian - I’m one myself - use a glottal stop like this. The narrator of the first book much better.
