A little dated, but a great central character
The gender roles very much of their time, but the anti hero joie de vive is great fun.

Slippery Jimmy DiGriz In Glorious Audio
I read the Stainless Steel Rat books as a kid and loved them, James Digriz is the perfect anti hero - a sort of SciFi Bond with a warped moral compass.
At first I didn't take to the narration - I find most American narrated books too slow and have to listen at 1.5 speed - But this grew on me, his husky voice seemed to fit with the main character, although his portrayal of the female characters to a stretch of imagination.
Overall a very enjoyable book and I can;t wait to hear the rest of the series.

Brilliant book
I’ve read this book numerous times over the years, but this is the first time I’ve listened to the audiobook version, which was brilliant. Great work by the narrator to bring such a good story to life.

these stories were my introduction to Si Fi o er 50 years ago. They are fun easy reading and even easier listening. intricate, irreverent and beautifully written. nicely narrated and very entertaining. Highly recommended.

A fun yarn
This was a decent little book. Not good enough for me to want to read the next in the series immediately but it was pretty good.
I will say that the characters having creativity in their various criminal hijinks was a refreshing change. Too often stories of conmen and women are uninventive and dull. This book excelled at being fast paced and original.
There are only a handful of characters without an abundance of time to flesh them out but they carried the narrative well. The setting was well described.
I thought the narration was excellently done. I would recommend this to any sci-fi lover or fan of confidence tricks.

Old classic, well read
I loved Slippery Jim as a character when I was a teen, and OK the style is a bit dated nowadays but still a lot of fun. Performance was great, and suited the style very well. Really enjoyed this trip back to my youth.
