About this listen
Faith Leblanc is looking for that special someone, but her tactics have branded her somewhat of a womanizer. A few doors down, Rachel Chauvin is looking for the same, but her conservative style hasn't yielded any keepers, either. Neither woman is willing to consider the other as a prospective partner, mostly because they've hated each other for nearly four decades.
Contains mature themes.

I loved the book, it's funny, sweet and wistful in the right amounts. It's well-written and made me look up Robin Alexander's other books. I have already re-listened to this one too, just because I love it so much. The narration is also really good so kudos to Lori Prince.
I've gone through her Audible Plus offerings and then spent credits to buy the books after the fact because they deserved it. Now 7 books into Alexander's catalogue with 5 books purchased and waiting.
I can highly recommend "The Summer of Our Discontent". If you're an Audible subscriber you don't even have to pay for it, but you might want to afterwards.

Robin Alexander is a skilful writer in this arena and despite the relative shortness of the story packs a great deal into the narrative.
The two protagonists have been at odds since childhood as the opening shows. Fast forward to their late thirties Rachael is a Mom and Faith an Aunt; the respective young daughter and niece being the very best of friends. Despite the rivalry being still intense both women are corralled into being chaperones at the girls' summer camp, and there the romance finally breaks out.
Lori Prince is one of the best narrators in this field packing distinctive voices into the two main characters, adorably cute two children and the supports.
There are laugh out loud slapstick incidents, carefully handled 'drawing togethers' and some quite salutary reasonings as to why the two were at odds, but still drawn together.
The pacing is also good, with no rushed endings.
Originally I listened to this through my audio membership, but Audible took it off that listening, sssooo taking advantage of one of their extra credit purchase schemes this was one I added to my permanent collection. Most certainly filled with re-visiting value.

The story was great & so enjoyable right from page one. It was light-hearted, funny & easy to follow apart from the fact that it was hard to decipher the 2 main characters apart, and kept getting them mixed up alot.
More of a rom-com with little sex in the story but it's definitely worth a read !!
