About this listen

Bloomsbury presents The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide written and read by Jen Gale.

Easy, do-able, down to earth ideas and suggestions for everyone to help save the planet.

If you want to save the planet, but your to-do list is already pretty long and remembering your re-usable coffee cup feels like a Herculean task, then this is the book for you. Covering every aspect of our lives from the stuff we buy and the food we eat to how we travel, work, and celebrate, this book provides stacks of practical, down to earth ideas to slot into your daily life, alongside a gentle kick up the butt to put your newfound knowledge into action.

Practical tips include unsubscribing from all the tempting emails that drop into your inbox with details of the newest clothing range or the latest sale, and keeping a mug next to your kettle to work out how much water you actually need to boil each time, as over-filling kettles costs British households £68 million on energy bills each year.

Find out how to fit "sustainable living" into your life, in a way that works for you. Change your impact without radically changing your life and figure out the small steps you can make that will add up to make a big difference (halo not included).

After reading David Attenborough’s A Life on our Planet, I was looking for a book with practical everyday advice on living a more sustainable life.
I learnt a lot from this book. I liked the message that sustainable living is a journey, and that most things are not black-and-white. A powerful and useful book.

Down-to-earth, honest, and very practical

One of the most helpful and inspiring books I have read in the last year. The content is fantastic, as is the delivery. I wish it was mandatory for every person to read this book as I believe anyone who does will make at least one positive change, if not several. I’m looking forward to implementing and sharing this new knowledge. Very grateful to the author.

The world would be a different place if everybody read this book

An excellent and very helpful book packed with ideas, tips and resources. Jen shows the changes we all need to make are possible, satisfying and that some can even be fun too.

Everyone should read/listen to this!

This book is a fairly comprehensive review of everything one can do to help the planet. Well researched, accessible, well read by the author. But I do feel that it is not useful as an audio book because she gives so many references, web addresses and things one would like to look up later, impossible to flip through an audio book later to find what you are looking for.

Good subject matter, better as a physical book

On the whole, very good indeed. No bashing of people who lead different lifestyles, just small changes. I found the "A.K.A." thing a bit annoying.

Very good

Loved the book and all the advice very realistic to make these changes in your lifestyle however I listen to these books while driving so I am unable to write down all the information links. To complete this it could do with a PDF link so you could download all these helpful points, tips and links to use later.

Great book, realistic lifestyle
