Summary

This is the story of Mhoddy Dhoo, which basically means "black dog". He haunts the ruins of Peel Castle in the Isle of Man or Ellen Vannin, as it used to be called. He has many adventures before and after his death, and this story tells but a few.

It has some chapters that might be a bit scary for younger listeners as Mhoddy visits the gates of heaven and hell and archangels for help. It is, however, a relatively light-hearted tale where good overcomes evil and has a relatively happy ending.

Wonderful take on a classic haunting

This little tale is a breath of fresh air. It's a wonderful, unique take on a classic old 'canine haunting.' Maggie's, already beautiful adaptation comes to life with narrator Libby Kerk's clear and entertaining narration. Will most certainly be looking up more tales by Maggie Jeffrey and am desperate to hear more of Libby Kerk's crystalline storytelling.
