I really enjoyed this audiobook. Both Libby Howard and Margaret Strom are new-to-me.

I liked Libby's writing style and the way she paced the plot. Yes, I had worked out who the murderer was before the big reveal but that didn't diminish my engagement.

I love the fact that our protagonist is in her 60s. Margaret's narration really captured Kay's personality.

I have added the next audiobook to my wish list.

For the most part I did enjoy this book. However it was rather slow and a lot of repeating things we already knew (things that was not relevant to the case like she couldn't knit or she let the herb garden go). Also in some way it seemed like the author couldn't decided what story she wanted to write and the addition of the ghost was like an after thought, just to pad out the story. Okay I know she follows it to find a body but she never acknowledges it's a ghost and instead it is referred to as floaters caught out of the corner of her eye. Having said all that I liked the fact that the main character is older than the normal sleuth and needs renters to help pay the mortgage in the form of a judge and his teenage children, which has the potential to be a lot of fun. The mystery it's self was good, once it got all the home life drama and setting up the scene out of the way. I am not sure you can call her an amateur sleuth though as she seemed very capable and good on the computer which is why I will be joining her on her next case.
After the death of her husband things are tight for Kay and the only way to keep the house they shared is to take in a renter and his teenage children. Things are more settled at work and skip-tracing is simply time spent on the computer tracking down where her boss might find missing clients or hidden cars. That is until the biggest scandal to hit the town happens and her boss posts bail for a madam, who has disappeared. Can Kay find a clue where she might be hold up and why she missed a meeting with her patrol office? Kay is too good at her job and instead finds her body? Now she needs to find a killer.
I liked the narrator, she helped to bring the story to life.
