About this listen
I have never in my life met anyone as infuriating as that dragon. So then why do I keep wanting to spend time with him?
Step One: Find a gorgeous guy. Check.
Step Two: Talk to said gorgeous guy. Check.
Step Three: Try not to strangle him. Uh… do I really have to check this one? Because I really want to wrap my fingers around his—ugh.
Garrick Von Stein is the most frustrating person I’ve ever met, and yet, as soon as he calls me for help, I jump right in. Every single time. Why? I have no idea. I mean, I really do like to look at the dragon shifter king, but that doesn’t explain this strange pull, this need, I feel to be near him.
He doesn’t even like me—believe me, I’d know—but for some reason he trusts me. And the weirdest thing of all? I trust him too.
Now if only we could find a way to work together to keep him and everyone else safe.
The Witch’s Grumpy Dragon is Book 1 of the new MM urban fantasy series, Brinnswick: Tales from Gauhala. It follows a new couple in each book with a guaranteed HEA. It takes place in the Brinnswick world in the far away country of Gauhala and brings a whole new cast of characters. But don't worry, there will be some cameos along the way.

A witch and a grumpy dragon!
Dragons are the best. Old, savvy and powerful. I enjoyed this grumpy one and the witch he succumbed to. Lovely story.

Cute!
This was my first book by Michelle Notaro, and I suspect I have opened a treasure vault. I'm kinda overwhelmed by life atm, and need books that bring action and feels but not actual fear and tears. This was perfect, low angst but kept me engaged and wanting to know more about the MCs. I enjoyed the world building, things made sense even though I didn't start with book one, and I still want to go get book one to catch up on the stories of a lot of the side characters.

Highly recommend!
Garrick made me crack up - he was a grump who had a rather interesting approach to catching his varamore’s attention. He was formal, proper and all kinds of awkward but I absolutely adored him. His back story was heartbreaking - if anyone deserved a HEA it was Garrick.
Narrator’s performance was absolutely amazing.

Grumpy dragon meets his sunshine witchy mate
Though a new start to a series, the 'prequel' - The Wolf's (Un)Lucky Fae - is a good place to start.
This is a slow burn, hurt/comfort story with interesting characters: Garrick is the dragon king of Gauhala, that has seemingly neglected his people; Tan is a witch who is part of a team hired to manage security in the kingdom; Remi and Bel are Tan's boss/friend and friend respectively, (they are the MCs in the aforementioned book). Tan is not impressed by Garrick when they first meet, and Garrick doesn't make it better by appearing a tad commanding. Eventually, Tan changes his tune, Garrick shows his softer side and together, they battle enemies and get their HEA.
The world-building is good, better if you've read the/listened to the 'prequel'.
It was genius to have Michael Lesley voice this series. He is amazing with his talent for accents, differing character voices, emotions and his comedic timing with the more humourous dialogue. I have been a fan of his earlier works, this just confirms why he is such an asset to anyone wanting to hear their stories brought to life!

excellent
Definitely now one of my favourite narrators. The accents are the same for the characters as in the book, which "started" this part of the series. This makes me very happy.
Story - although this is the first part of a series, I am happy that I listened to The Wolf's (Un)lucky Fae as a number of the characters here were also prominent in that book. Things like the bad treatment of the fae were shown in that book and the reasons behind it here. Garrick makes the best kind of grumpy character, with lots of trauma and sweetness underneath. The plot was good, and the found family is growing beautifully.

Another great story
I wasn’t certain what to expect when I picked up this book. I love Michele Notaro audios, so I knew I was in for a treat. And I have to say that Michael Lesley delivered an amazing performance. His portrayal of Garrick was just…brilliant. His entire work was magnificent.
Which meant I also loved Michele’s words. The story seemed just like a grumpy/sunshine book, but it turned out to be so much more. Garrick’s pain about his past was palpable and to watch him open up to Tan – the really adorable witch – was lovely. Tan’s friends came along for the ride as well as his found family, which made everything just that much more special.
The battle was EPIC. The romance was SWEET. The love was PALPABLE.
Can you tell I loved this audio? Can’t wait for the next one!

MM Dragon King
Step into another unique fantasy world crafted by Michele Notaro. The characters are not just characters, they are living beings with a rich back story that you can easily immerse yourself in. The MM Dragon, Fae, and Witch world is a place of wonder and mystery waiting for you to explore.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would recommend it. We meet Garrick Von Stein, the Dragon King, and feel his sorrow for his harrowing past, but his presence within his kingdom has been lacking, and he finds out that many unpleasant things have been happening behind his back.
Great story, I love the characters and can't wait to read more in this series.
Excellent narration by Michael Lesley. I sped up the narration to 1.15 on Audible, which is my norm, making the experience more enjoyable.

The joy of a fantastic book !
Michele Notaro is a new author to me - and its the best feeling when you find a hidden gem! This story was great - the world building, the characters and storyline just fit together perfectly and coupled with the amazing narrator, this turned out to be a great start on a new series. I’m a sucker for sassy characters and Tan was just yum! Gerrick is a broody dragon - I loved to see the way they found each other and watch them grow together. I’m definitely going to snatch more of these books and also check out the previous series! I can’t wait for the next book.

Enjoyable
Although the story was easy to follow, I think you would get more out of this book if you are familiar with Notaro's Brinnswick universe. I believe this comprises The Brinnswick Chronicles, The Ellwood Chronicles and The Wolf's (Un)Lucky Fae which occurs just before this story.
I enjoyed the interactions between the characters, and the action. There is very much a feeling that this is the beginning of a much larger story, so it will be interesting to see where this series goes.
Michael Lesley, as always, is an absolute joy to listen to!
