About this listen

Why is every film or tv programme a sequel or a remake?

Why are people so f***ing hung up about swearing?

Why do the asterisks in that sentence make it okay?

Why do so many people want to stop other people doing things, and how can they be stopped from stopping them?

These and many other questions trouble David Mitchell. Join him on a tour of the absurdities of modern life - from Ryanair to Richard III, Downton Abbey to phone etiquette, UKIP to hot dogs made of cats. Funny, provocative and shot through with refreshing amounts of common sense, Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse celebrates and commiserates on the state of things in our not entirely glorious modern world.

The main downside to this book is that I basically went around smirking for several days while commuting. Some of articles could have been grouped together better, but if you find David Mitchell funny (both on panel shows or on Peep Show) then this book - and Mitchell's performance of it) will have you stitches.

Basically I laughed on the tube. A lot

...but you don’t know who I am which makes my recommendation completely meaningless. Five Stars.

I would write a full review...

I really enjoyed this book, it was funny, informative and interesting. the only issue is that we need an updated version every few years because it's become dated very quickly

great, although dated

a good listen, pointing out the absurdity of Britain and its press, government and society. A lighthearted enjoyable escape

laugh out loud funny in places.

Except when he goes off on his imagined scenarios, this is accurate and clever satire. Well read by the author. It will make you laugh and I enjoyed his logical and sometimes cynical Anglocentric way of seeing the world. Let down by his imaginary scenarios IMO, but none the less, worth a listen.

Generally witty and often clever satire

Very well written and highly amusing!
I'm sure the irony of Mitchells' publication on Amazon Audible nibbles at him constantly, and you will understand why after reading/listening to his book. That aside, a very enjoyable book!

I'm sure the irony isn't lost

I'm a big fan of Peep show so David Mitchell is a known talent to me. This book really shows his talent as a writer and narrator and I genuinely laughed out loud throughout the run time.

half glass empty.

David Michell is brilliant, and even though this book was written a while ago it was still very relevant and funny

Acerbic British comedy. Somewhat UK specific but still very amusing. UK excommunication of snobbery & modern NIMBYs is just wonderful

Best of British
