Needed something to plug a gap. I was surprised how moving I found this. It managed both character and world building. The brilliant Ray Porter was the reason I chose it

Sci fi short story

Set in the same universe as the Titan Born series, I found this quite enjoyable. The premise itself is pretty ghastly- live out your life in deep sleep and hope your genetic identity survives down the generations- but it’s a fascinating idea, if a bit flawed, (how would a whole colony survive if everyone came out of the tube as helpless as a newborn?)

Worth a listen.

Another great (short) book by Rhett Bruno. If you've an hour to spare, give it a listen. It's even free at the moment in the Audible library! What's not to like!

The Interstellar Ark,, Hermes, is heading for Tau Ceti and a planet likely to be suitable for human habitation. On board are exactly one thousand inhabitants, all but one, a Monitor to act as an aid to the ship's AI, are sleeping in pods as they journey. With only a few hours remaining to Orion before his time as Monitor comes to an end, he must choose a successor. Roy Porter gives a characteristically clear and sympathetic voice to Orion, the sixth monitor, as he ponders his final hours. Pace perfect and with good intonation, his is an excellent performance.
A beautifully crafted short story by the author of the Titanworld series. It is atmospheric and charming, and very human
Taking just under an hour to read, it is still guaranteed to leave a powerful impression. Recommended

I really enjoyed Dead Acre by these authors so thought I'd check out this short story, and I was glad I did - an interesting take on the generation ship travelling to a new home. Apparently set in the same universe as a series, so may check that out.

I wanted this book to keep going 😩it is short but hopefully there will be more books set In this universes time period it has intriguing possibilities and could go anywhere 😀

I want to say Ray porter was amazing in his performance deserves the equivalent of an Oscar.
