About this listen

Ever wondered just how much of life you can understand through poetry?

Tim Key is never far from stage and screen - from Peep Show to Alpha Papa to Taskmaster. But now he's back doing what he does best - attempting to recite poetry whilst tormenting his friend and musician, the equally brilliant and long-suffering Tom Basden.

From ruminating on the meaning of family via his narrative poem 'The Godfather', attempting to get to the bottom of death via his poem 'The Boy Who Faked His Own Death' and also organising an impromptu stag party, Tim Key uses poetry to help him understand every situation.

Critic reviews

"...you never know when Key will suddenly toss you a fantastic joke or startlingly well-constructed line." (Radio Times)

"In any other sphere apart from comedy, we'd probably class this way of looking at the world as certifiable. Here it feels like genius." (The Telegraph)

"The show...has a kind of artistry and strange beauty that makes it unlike any other hour of stand-up you are likely to see." (The Observer)

missing some of the best episodes

Hilarious. Beautiful. Thoughtful. Also available on bbc sounds, which has more and some of the best episodes.

Tim holds the Key to laughs.

Tim Keys late night poetry programme just got better and funnier. I loved his shouting and anger and this bit with the massive champagne bottle. More please (Points of View most use phrase).

Not Complete!

First off Tim Key's late Night Poetry Programme is excellent comedy. This is not the complete series 1-4 as the episode cars from series four is repeated and the episode under The Stars is missing. Can this be fixed please?

An absolute joy

So much love for this. Rewards multiple listenings as the script is so natural, fast and richly packed with gems, you risk missing a joke as you are still laughing at the last one. Just wish there was more. Also paternoster lifts are truly terrifying

Great comedy

This show is brilliant. I love the sound scapes and worlds they build to present the show in. Meghan is a fine woman.

Brilliant but incomplete.

The exchanges between Tim and Tom are on par with the best of Steptoe and Only Fools. Shame Audible can't seem to sort the upload.

Absolutely brilliant. So funny.

Love it. Great concept and I’m not a big poetry fan in general. It’s the way it’s delivered and the layers of jokes through the conversations and with the hilarious stories.

Hope there’s more to come!
