Summary

Fae like to play dangerous games...

In detective Mera Maurea's experience, three things motivate a murder: secrets, convenience, or passion. But none of the three can explain why the Summer King is dead.

With a tight deadline hanging over her head, Mera has to figure out who's the culprit before the frail balance that holds the nation of Tagrad together crumbles into dust.

To aid her - or turn her life into a living hell, hard to tell which - is her fae partner Sebastian Dhay, a snarky detective with a penchant for the illegal. He's a volatile wild card who will do anything to solve the murder, even if it means his doom.

The clock is ticking. And Mera is hiding a deadly secret of her own.

Kill a Fae

Fantastic novel I loved all the characters especially the leads . A siren and a night fae with killing abilities off the chart . It must be love for sure . Each know the others secret and hers must not get out … Bast will do anything including kill , which as a detective is out of order to keep her safe . I can’t wait to read more in this series

those cocky fae...

I love anything fae related, and detective stuff. This is a combination of both, mix in a sassy siren with a potty mouth and it brings plenty of humour. The main characters are fantastic, their personalities compliment eachother perfectly. The storyline is really well implemented, and flows at a really good pace. I suspected I knew who the suspect was, and I was actually right. But I didn't expect the twist that came with the criminal, that was brilliant and an opening for book Two. Can't wait to dive in to the next book.

I love faeries, but …

Potential spoilers; proceed carefully.

The romances are rushed and out of place most of the time.
The magic system is interesting but lacking in description, specially with regards to the main character. The ”macabre” is very badly explained and appears to have no limitations which almost makes her a Mary Sue character, as this mysterious power always appears as a ”get out of jail free”card, and main char doesn’t really have to think her way out of anything or use any other skills.
The undue and immediate attraction is also cliche.
Language is consistent across characters. It is thanks to the narrator that I know different people are talking.
Narration was good, story was meh, all things considered.
