The importance of this novella lies, chiefly, in its autobiographical character, as well as in its contribution, through the description of an amitié particulière, to the theory of love. There is deep insight here and an exquisite sensitivity that touches on every aspect of what is seen and felt. All the more enjoyable as it is read by the author himself! An unequivocal 5 stars!
