Spiritual approach to coaching

Interesting approach to growing as a trader by getting to know yourself better through spiritual growth. A bit too much testimonials for me, though.

Not what you'd expect

Whilst there is trading insight the book is more focused on finding spiritual oness from which all things are possible. God loves making money in the markets.

A struggle to read

This guy talks alot of mumbo jumbo and is promoting himself 50% of the book. Instead of simply listing down recommended trading rules, he listed them down as "Tharp Think", finding every chance to promote his website, newsletter and 5 figure courses.

Its one of those books u have to struggle though the nonsense to pick up any trace of useful information, not recommended.

Eye opening

Everyone should read this, not just traders. It makes total sense to apply this to everything you do.

More therapy than trading advice.

Van Tharp is a well known psychologist to those interested in the trading world, but there's not actually very much of *him* or his voice in this book. It's mostly a series of monologues by various people who have been through his programs, talking about their lives outside of trading, and the experiences they believe have influenced them on their paths through the world. How compelling you find it all will depend to a large degree on how relevant you think spiritual contemplation and emotional therapy is to your trading success. Personally I started to find it all a bit aimless and unfocussed. I would have liked a more concise pulling-together of some key principles and points of consideration for the benefit of those of us who can't attend the programs this is all based on.

There's definitely good stuff in here, but you have to wade through a lot of emotional incontinence to get to it: and it can feel like an extended advert for his courses by the end.

I found the narrator quite irritating, but that's just me.

utter drivel!

this is nothing more than self promoting material to drive readers to paid courses and activities.
according to this bullshit you can't trade unless you believe in God!
my advice is wait for them to separate religion and business from the material.

Good content if you can stand the narration

This is a very good book and likely a better read than a listen. Not because the content doesn’t transfer well in to audiobook, it does. But because I can’t bear listening to the voice. It’s read with a tone of anger like someone who’s constantly frustrated and pissed off with you. If he just ended every sentence with “you idiot” like that patronising friend who answers everything in a way that suggests you’re stupid for asking. That said the content of this book is valuable to aspiring traders and focuses on establishing discipline through transforming limiting personal belief systems and position trading strategies. I just wish extracting it wasn’t such a trauma.

Over rated

People always recommend this book but it was so much fluff with no new insights. Also I got out off with the scientology esque way of promoting his other books and courses. Avoid

Waste of time

Teaches nothing except that Buddhists and nuns would potentially make good traders. Try one of Tharps other books
