About this listen

An old case from his LAPD past threatens Bosch's reputation in a gripping new thriller.

Harry Bosch is back as a volunteer working cold cases for the San Fernando police and is called out to a local drug store where a young pharmacist has been murdered. Bosch and the town's three-person detective squad sift through the clues, which lead into the dangerous big-business world of prescription drug abuse.

Meanwhile, an old case from Bosch's LAPD days comes back to haunt him when a long-imprisoned killer claims Harry framed him and seems to have new evidence to prove it. Bosch left the LAPD on bad terms, so his former colleagues aren't keen to protect his reputation. He must fend for himself in clearing his name and keeping a clever killer in prison.

The two unrelated cases wind across each other like strands of barbed wire. Along the way Bosch discovers that there are two kinds of truth: the kind that sets you free and the kind that leaves you buried in darkness.

Bosch back in full effect

Great story and really well narrated - usual good plot line and 2 parallel takes work well.

Two Kinds of Truth

I thoroughly enjoyed the narration by Titus Welliver, who also plays the Bosch character in the tv series. Even the title was relevant to the theme of the book and Bosch himself is in a reflective mood at the end of the book because of the outcome of long standing cold cases and a current murder. It is important to read all of Michael Connelly books carefully or you miss the humour and subtleties of the plot.
Highly recommended.

Stop with the bloody music!

The scourge of modern TV programming is music while people of talking, now it's in audio books. I love Titus and his reading but stop with the bloody music, sure its a bit sexy but I want to hear what he is saying. Good story, but ruined by music.

Connelly back on top form

Really enjoyed the latest in the series even though the story is not really complex Connelly has such a sure touch when it comes to dialogue that listening is a delight.

Enjoyable

Puting aside the annoying music that features so often in these Connelly audiobooks, this is a good story that keeps you listening. The characters are never two dimensional and highly believable

Masterful storytelling- superb narration!

The Harry Bosch books just keep getting better and better. Powerhouse of a narration from Titus Welliver. Subtle characterisations must mean he is a shoe-in for an ‘Audie’ award.
Only problem is that I have a long wait for another new Bosch book.

Excellent detective book

I couldn’t put it down, to my surprise,
A number of interlocking treads made it very interesting and absorbing

The Best Ever

Grips from beginning to end with Bosch's humanity shining out in a world as dark as it gets.
