Started on book 2 and now am going back for book 1😜 and need book 3😑

Heather & Jeffrey were great as Hayden & Gemma. I love their connection. The way that Hayden brings out a bit of impulsiveness in Gemma is delightful and the way that Gemma makes Hayden feel again is inspiring…if only they can get Landon on board 🙃

I loved this story. Hayden and Gemma has such a great connection and I loved them together. Their story was fast paced, suspenseful and steamy and I was hooked until the end.
The narrators did a wonderful job portraying the characters and bringing out their strength and determination. They gave the characters distinct voices and perfectly portrayed their emotions.

They were perfectly cast for the roles and complimented each other. It was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.

This fantastic story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. The characters are easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about and root for too. Gemma, a single mom, lives in an upscale neighborhood, one she should feel safe in, except her neighbors are not the friendliest or the most welcoming. They have been trying to get her to sell, which she refuses to do, so now they have moved to using scare tactics to get her to leave. Having had enough she asks her daughter, who goes to the elite school, if any of her friends or students have parents who are lawyers and are good at what they do, and she blurts out Hayden Atwater, she wanted to add more but her mother ran out of the house to head to his office. When Gemma walks into Hayden’s office for a last-minute appointment, he mistakes her for a stripper. Gemma had forgotten she was still in her work clothes, and when she catches on to what he was thinking, she takes a step back. But he is not giving up on her, even after she clears things up, and since he is out of her price range, he offers her a deal, one she refused. Hayden does not take no for an answer and continues to pursue her even after she leaves his office, and after seeing her neighbors he reconsiders and then offers to help with her. I loved how everything played out in this book, there is some back and forth between the two leads before anything really happens between them and when it does, it is smoking hot. Gemma learns of Hayden’s son’s bullying way and that he and her daughter Parker do not get along, which is another reason things would not work out for her and Hayden, though he thinks it will and that his son won’t be a problem. This cleverly plotted story has plenty of drama, angst, some surprising twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Sam Mariano, thank you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Heather Firth and Jeffrey Holz were the perfect cast to bring these characters and story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, gave each a voice that suited their character’s persona to a tee and were believable in every role they played. Heather Firth nailed it as Gemma, grasping every side of her personality and Jeffrey Holz did the same for Hayden, playing the perfect bossy, alpha-hole. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, make you feel every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

This book is definitely the polar opposite of Book 1. I loved it nonetheless.

Hayden and Gemma were not what I was expecting at all and I was there for it.

The connection and the love between them was so strong and I felt it in my bones. I loved it and wanted to see them thrive but didn't want Parker to suffer. I didn't see a way around it and was worried but Parker is so strong and resilient.

I loved the bonus scene from Parker's POV too!!

Heather Firth and Jeffrey Holz were amazing. They knew how to deliver the drama and leave you wanting more!

Such a highly interesting listen. I enjoyed Gemma. I liked the story and stayed captive til the end. I wish it was longer, I wanted to keep listening. The narrators were spot on in their performance and did a great job.

Sam Marino is an author who can capture my attention from the first line. This book has a little of everything. It's not long, its action packed and leads up to the next in the series perfectly! Gemma and Parker live in neighborhood that they have never felt welcome in. When the last straw breaks, Gemma goes to a lawyer for help. Hayden Atwater is outside her price range, but there is something about this feisty woman that lights him up. Willing to help her for a date, the two begin seeing each other. But there is more to this than meets the eye. Parker, Gemma's daughter has been tortured by Hayden's son Landon for years. How will this all work out if the two cannot even be in school together? And we are off to a spicy start. Gemma and Hayden are on fire. I love Gemma's fierce love for Parker, so much she is willing to do whatever she needs to keep her safe. An alpha male, Hayden loves control, but finds out he has lost it over his son. This action packed, suspense filled, sensual beginning has left me wanting more and I look forward to the next book!

Heather Firth and Jeffrey Holz are amazing as they narrate this gem! Firth delves into the strong willed, fiercely loving parent as she finds her own happiness. Each nuance keeps Gemma real and easy to relate to. Holz plays the dark alpha so perfectly, and as Hayden he is fabulous. Strong, commanding and vulnerable, he makes him authentic. Great pairing for this one and a listen I truly enjoyed.

I loved the dual narration of Heather Firth and Jeffrey Holz. Perfect, they bring out fierceness, the strength and the pace of the characters and plot

Hayden , He cuts a deal with her, he is willing to help her for a date. Parker, Gemma's daughter has been bulled by Hayden's son Landon for years. Gemma is willing to do whatever needs to keep her daughter safe. , Hayden loves control. This book is action packed, suspense filled.

This is one of the tamest SM books I've read so far and it was such a good setup for Contempt. I loved how both MCs were single parents I just know that book 3 is going to be a Sam Mariano classic.
