About this listen
In a galaxy long ago but not so far away, three young friends—Billy, Emily, and Jody—are coming of age in the small, fading town of Schlitzboro on the gray, watery world of Balaeni. Humans colonized Balaeni centuries ago, but the vastlings—mysterious and enormous marine mammals—still call this world home.
When Billy Blaster decides to join the Star Legion, he leaves behind Schlitzboro and steps into a world filled with responsibility and challenges that test not only his physical strength but his sense of purpose. Jody departs for the bustling life at Tachyon State on distant Homeworld, while Emily remains in the quiet of Schlitzboro, watching as her friends journey into a larger galaxy, unsure of what lies ahead for any of them.
Waved Away explores the deep bonds of friendship and the emotional complexities of growing up. The quiet shores of Schlitzboro, the haunting songs of the vastlings, and the choices each character makes weave together in a tale of love, loyalty, and the courage to face the unknown.
This is the second book in the grand space opera Hearts and Heroes of Homeworld and Beyond, but it is a stand-alone tale; no knowledge of prior books is required to fully enjoy this story. Waved Away emphasizes character-driven storytelling, where the strength of community and the courage to stand together are as vital as the galactic battles looming in the vast reaches of space.
Perfect for fans of character-driven, traditional-values adventure fiction set against a galaxy of interstellar intrigue and timeless myth. And best of all, it’s based on a true story … sort of.

A Poetic Future in Every Word
There’s something lyrical about this story that made me slow down just to savor the words. The way the author builds a "future long ago" is both haunting and comforting. The narrator’s voice fits the vibe perfectly — almost like a storyteller sitting beside a fire. I found myself thinking about certain lines long after I finished. This is not just a story; it’s an experience.

A Time-Bending Tale Worth Every Minute!
From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The concept of a "future long ago" is so unique, and the audiobook delivers it with heart and elegance. I found myself completely absorbed, as if time around me was bending just like in the story. The narrator deserves extra praise for making every character and moment come alive. This was truly a standout listen for me.

Mysterious, Mesmerizing, and Meaningful
This book is like a puzzle made of emotions, memories, and visions of a world both lost and found. I loved how it didn’t spoon-feed everything; instead, it trusted the listener to put the pieces together. The narration was soothing and vivid without being overly dramatic. It’s one of those audiobooks that stay with you, lingering in your thoughts.

Rich Worldbuilding, Beautiful Narration
The world created in Waved Away is rich, textured, and so believable that I felt like I was walking its dusty paths myself. The narrator added layers of depth with subtle voice shifts that matched each scene's mood. It’s rare to find an audiobook where story and performance are so perfectly in sync. Will definitely listen again!
