About this listen
A retired university professor has just been diagnosed with a rare degenerative disease. Returning home from the doctor’s office, he witnesses a pretty young girl being kidnapped. Believing the police are dragging their feet, he vows to find her on his own. He knows that if he doesn’t act, she may never be found alive.
Jennifer Riggins, the kidnapped girl, is being held prisoner by a depraved couple who have started an exclusive website called What Comes Next. Viewers can watch her terrifying ordeal in real time, and thousands tune in for each episode of her ongoing nightmare. Jennifer has been renamed “Number Four”. Her life is just beginning, and her only hope is a man whose life is nearing its end.

Brilliant Story

I think part of the problem was it was just too long and the action, such as there was, was just to spread out for my taste.
Having said that the use of enhanced memories of people from Adrian’s past was both clever and original helping the story greatly. And as a main character Adrian was highly likeable and believable.
The “What comes Next” web site was not believable, the notion that people would pay the implied huge fees to watch what unfolds is just not credible and that students could afford it also lacked credence
So for me a lost opportunity for a very clever story line
But then I seem to be in a minority based on other reviews
Great idea for a story spoilt by holding back
