About this listen

If you like clean and funny cozy mysteries, then you will love Patricia Fisher!

She over 50, feisty, and oh so good at solving mysteries.

Patricia Fisher is not your average woman. To start with she lives in a 73-room manor house and travels with a Jamaican butler who is part ninja and fakes his Downton Abbey accent. Then add to those facts that she just opened a private investigations business and throw in the worrying bit where people keep trying to kill her.

When a climber suspiciously falls to his death and a local artist has her dog stolen, Patricia finds herself investigating two cases that seem to have no motive and no clues. Even with the help of her friends these mysteries will be hard to unravel.

But as she starts to poke her nose in where it is most definitely not wanted, a name from the past comes back to haunt her, a mysterious underworld figure issues a confusing threat, and she begins to wonder if she has any idea what she is doing. Will her intuition get her through again? Or has she bitten off more than she can chew?

If only she had listened to Sam.

Get ready for a new series of thrills!

Really enjoyed the story but nearly didn't listen to the whole book, after 20mins the narrator's voice was getting to me.

Enjoyed the story but......

I loved the story; worst narration I've heard. Please, please hire a new narrator!

New Narrator, PLEASE

I loved the first series of The Patricia Fisher Mysteries but the narrator for this next series Maryanne Wells has totally spoilt it for me. She is all over the place, she is erratic in her speech, often unbearably slow. She puts emphasis in the wrong places, her voice is so supercilious and Germane sounds ridiculous. I could cope with an American accent for an English middle class woman if she would just talk normally. Unfortunately my eyes are not great so reading for myself is not an option. I am just so disappointed as love these characters and want to hear the rest of these books but the narrator has totally spoilt it for me

Although the plot twists are predictable, What Sam Knew is an enjoyable story. This book is a combination of mystery and murder, with a bit of humour thrown in for good measure. The characters have begun to feel like old friends. You can’t help but love them and get drawn into the drama.
Whilst Maryanne M. Wells did a fantastic job with the other character’s voices in dialogue, Patricia’s dialogue and internal monologue sometimes came across as patronising because the speech had odd inflections and was really slow. Listening to the book at a slightly faster than normal narration speed worked well for me.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, and I'm leaving a voluntary review.

I can think of at least a few incidences in my life where the lessons learned in this book have played out for me. Be very careful what you wish for as it just might not be what you want at all. Brilliant story by a brilliant author!
Interesting narration.

I decided instead, to read the book because the voice and manner of the reader of the audio book was so irritating I couldn’t stand to listen to her and gave up by chapter 3

Unable to listen to the end

I was disappointed, that the same narrator continues to narrate the rest of the series. It is unlistenable.

Terrible narration that ruins good story

Possible the worst narration I have ever listened to. I really like Steve Higgs but just couldn’t listen to this. Has she ever heard a British accent ?

Unbelievably bad!!!
