About this listen
Matt: I’m proud to be a Port Dale firefighter, but it isn’t all excitement and sitting around eating homemade meals. It’s also dealing with your work “family” in ways you never expected.
I love my real family, and I love my work “family”. Well, most of them. My “brothers” at the fire station are exactly what I need at work, but I wasn’t expecting to be asked out by my homophobic brother’s actual brother. I also wasn’t expecting how well it would work out or where it would lead us. I certainly didn’t expect we’d get caught.
Ethan: Tossed out by the Corps on medical grounds, I have no idea what to expect from civilian life. I’ve got my brother Keith, who’s been everything - brother, friend, parent. Yet, when I stumble across his fellow firefighter Matt, I find myself in a whole new world.
Matt is sweet, kind, and forgiving, everything my brother is not, especially when it comes to being gay. Matt is hot. He’s everything I need, and I know I can’t hide my true self forever.
For Matt and Ethan, there’s fiery instant attraction, but can they get over family hurdles? When gay-hating Keith catches them kissing at work, sparks fly! Can the fire between them be rekindled? Or is it dead forever?

Matt and Ethan
I know almost all the books of the “Heroes of Port Dale” series and I’ve been looking forward to this volume. It is not a problem to read or listen to the book as a standalone. But you have more fun if you already know the whole series, because then you are happy about a reunion with one or the other character.
I really like the writing style of Romeo Alexander and I love the characters in his books because they come across so authentic and have to deal with everyday problems.
Matt’s a fireman in Port Tale. He has problems with his colleague Keith, because he has not only once been hostile to him because of his sexuality. When Keith’s brother Ethan is discharged from the army, he first moves in with his brother Keith, who raised him.
At the fire station the situation escalates between Keith and Matt, who gets Keith’s frustration on gay men. Keith didn’t know that his brother Ethan was gay.
I liked the story that the author told emotionally. Matt is sweet and reserved, but very loving. And when he meets Ethan, they realize that the chemistry between them is just right.
Ethan, on the other hand, still struggles with his new, civil life, as well as with the homophobic attitude of his brother, who is the only family he still has.
I like that Romeo has such opposing characters. The story is sweet and absolutely entertaining. There are also questions that are not always easy to answer.
Keith Smith narrated the audiobook well and he gives the different characters different voices. The almost 6 hours of audio book passed very quickly and I’m looking forward to the next book/audiobook from Port Dale

Wonderful book, wonderfully narrated!
Another great book from Romeo Alexander, situated in Port Dale. This time the book tells us the story of the relationship of Matt and Evan, and we can also read about other characters from this series. The plot is well developed, engaging and I could not stop hearing! I recommend it!

Being true to yourself brings you love.
Ethan and Matt’s story, though low angst, is full of meaning and feelings. The fact that two grown man have to sort of sneak behind Ethan’s homophobic brother bugged me to no end, especially because said brother,Keith, acted like a jerk for a very petty reason.
Anyway, the story is sweet and steamy, and very entertaining to listen to!

Really loved this story and how it was told and who don’t love a firefighter..Coming into this story on book 7 i was a bit like will I get where the characters all fit in outside of Matt and Ethan? I shouldn’t have worried this so can be read/listened as a standalone.maybe this is due to a good narrator too.
Matt and Ethan are so meant to be together Matt is the sweetest guy and him and Ethan the macho marine just instantly connected. Can’t wait to go back to book 1 now and start the whole series
