About this listen

Interpol have tried and failed to find her. Now the combined forces of Scotland Yard and MI5 must try the impossible to prevent a major international incident.

For Dominic Elder, Witch is his passion, his obsession. And being retired is no bar to his willingness to restart the hunt. MI5 know that the man who wrote the Witch file is the key to catching their quarry. But the truth isn't easy to spot. And it is only when an MI5 novice and his French counterpart piece together the smallest of clues, that Witch suddenly looks vulnerable.

Good Story

Enjoyable book with some good characters, and a good plot. It doesn't try to drag out the story either. It isn't as good as Blood Hunt (another Ian Rankin novel), but if you liked that book you'll like this one too.

Well written and plotted, equally brilliantly narrated by the ever wonderful Nicola Walker. She's my all time favorite actress.

Nicola Walker is awesome

This is an enjoyable story of a troubled assassin and some interesting characters I would like to know more about. But, the star of the show is the reader, Nicola Walker. Her unhurried delivery builds tension so effectively, and her ability to convey sensitivity is moving.
Rankin is one of my all time favorite authors, but have only read Rebus novels up to now. This offering doesn't disappoint. Only complaint is would have liked it to have been longer.

Bewitching !

I have listened to Nicola Walker's versatile voice again and again. This book is not to be deleted after you have just heard it the once. You can enjoy it time and time again. Rankin's style of writing keeps you begging for more and more. But I really need to know what was rustling in the conference room! Talent abounds in this must-listen thriller, enjoy, enjoy! You can listen to the whole thing as you drive from Cork to Cavan!

Great story, great narrator!

To date, I have only read Rebus novels by Ian Rankin. This story of secret service agents tracking down an almost shapeshifting assassin is intriguing stuff. Made even more intriguing by the superb narration of the inimitable Nicola Walker, who seems to effortlessly meander from one accent to another with consummate ease.

Witch Hunt

Ian Rankin has the skill to maintain our understanding of developments as he moves the plot along. Once started the reader/listener does not want to put this addictive book/recording down. Throughly recommended.

Not sure where Jack Harvey fits in!

Kept expecting a character called Jack Harvey to appear - he never did.
Apart from that the overall story was good and well worth listening to.

Great story, brilliantly told

Good plot, lots of depth of character, plenty of twists and turns, just as you might expect from an author of Ian Rankin’s calibre and experience. What lifts this into the higher league however is Nicola Walker’s brilliant narration. Her effortless, seamless switch from character to character, from Irish to French to anything required, makes the whole thing so much more enjoyable. I confess to being a huge fan of her Annika Stranded radio series, so knew more or less what to expect, but true to form, be it in front of the camera or behind the microphone, Ms Walker never disappoints. A credit well spent!
