About this listen

With the arrival of the spring planting season, all Tav and his cadre of badass warrior women want to do is farm work and stockpile supplies. But in a lawless world, there isn’t a moment to rest.

New rivals and organizations are emerging, and scarce resources are at a premium. Tav and his ladies will have to put down their plowshares and pick up swords and sniper rifles once again.

as ever the narrators do a fantastic job - chris and jess are phenomenal in bringing the characters to life and their range is amazing.

the story itself doesn't progress the overall world arc too much and is more of a scene setter for the next wave i feel - setting up new antagonists. but it fleshes the world out a little more.

it does stretch things though - another big gang who treat women as slaves.... where did they come from? howd they get so effective? each gang seems a copy of the ones that came before and hopefully the next book will explain how the drug dealera came out of nowhere and became such a threat.

the only other niggle is as others have raised - the protagonists have murdered others for just looting near them OR seeking shelter in desperation. but they bend over backwards to spare a different character. i can chalk it up to some sort of loyalty but it feels a little forced to set this guy up as a new enemy.

however - the emotion and thoughtfulness it brings up is good and the rest of the book serves a purpose as a bridging piece to setup the next few as the world develops more.

another great story with some niggles
