Why are some words given an American accent? It’s based in England and as far as I know the narrator is English, the mispronounced words are VERY annoying.

Why “erb” and not “herb”

If you can’t do accents then you shouldn’t! The worst irritating voice I have ever heard. Otherwise the story was reasonably good.

please stop doing character voices and just read the book. it's so annoying, I loved Eva when she read Ashburn House in her own accent, but not this in "English" accent. My fave character is Frances, Neve let the side down with all the crying and whining.

I get it I know at the time animal cruelty was considered a sport… Thank Gooodness that’s not the case anymore! But so many references to it, and in ways that did not advance the storyline felt gratuitous and unnecessary. I am returning this book.
