About this listen
The laugh-out-loud, TOP 100 bestseller!
Tess Simpson needs a break!
No one appreciates her at home. No one appreciates her at work. And now her dog has died. She’s had enough!
Maybe what she really needs is a break from hopeless husband, Dave, the ungrateful ‘kidults’ and the lacklustre job.
River Romero needs a break!
She’s had success in the past, but screenwriting is a tough career in a tough town and her next script has got to fly or River’s dream career is over.
The swap!
Everything about River’s L.A. life sounds exciting to Tess, from the condo with a pool, to the Hollywood glitz.
Everything about Tess’s English country life sounds so calming to River, from the wisteria over the front door to the peaceful bedroom.
Both women want their lives to change, but real life isn’t like the movies.
And what if getting away from it all isn’t all it’s cracked up to be?
A laugh-out-loud, emotional listen, perfect for fans of Fiona Gibson, Tracy Bloom and Sophie Ranald!

Totally and utterly fabulous!!
Lovely story, great laughs, though cried a few times, so captivating. Truly believable characters who you feel you know. Don’t miss this one, it looks a light, dizzy read but it’s a stunning read. I’m hooked on this author now.

Enjoyed this transatlantic story
Enjoyed this story based both at home and abroad and as someone who likes to travel in the US and in LA in particular I really enjoyed it.
As someone who has recently married it is a little concerning about the state of 20 year marriages!
Narrators had many parts to play and differentiated the voices well, I felt.
Would recommend. An easy listen.

Don’t miss this book.
A slow build into a delightful story. Without giving too much away, the characters in this book are living in a rut, and a house and continent swap brings back a zest for life, for all concerned . Narration excellent as well.

Nice story but distracting American accent
Finding it very difficult to understand the American characters because the accents make them all sound like chain smoking Disney villains.

Narrator drove me mad.
Tess and Dave have an empty nest. The kids have moved out, the dog has died, and Tess has lost out on a promotion. Thinking the family needs one last adventure, accountant Tess sets about organising a trip of a lifetime to Thailand. Unfortunately, it soon becomes clear that this is her dream, not any of theirs.
Having already arranged to let out their stunning home for six weeks, Tess is in a quandary when she receives a phone call from a lady in LA who suggests they swap homes.
What could possibly go wrong?
They are good, strong characters, but l felt the ending was a damp squib.
And the narrator's American accent was beyond annoying.

What a novel.
This author certainly had some great insight into the life of a wife and a husband plus being a parent and working full time excellent realistic novel
