Summary

The wild and passionate tale of Cathy and Heathcliff's impossible love for each other and its phenomenal setting on the blasted Yorkshire moors has to be one of the best-known love affairs in literature.

When it was first published in 1847, Wuthering Heights was greeted with a fair degree of outrage, not only for the open description of desire and disaster but for the almost unheard of method of telling the story using unreliable witnesses whose tales and points of view open out from each other, leaving the audience to piece together the truth of the story.

Only such novels as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein had previously attempted to challenge the reader in this way, and it is only in the last century that the true genius of Emily Brontë's work has begun to be appreciated.

Prepare to be as swept up and buffeted by the extraordinary power of Brontë's storytelling as Cathy and Heathcliff are by the winds of Wuthering Heights.

Excellent Wuthering Heights narration

Absolutely amazing. Loved it all, though what a harrowing story. Juliet captured the characters perfectly, and we really were engrossed in the narration.

An enjoyable read read by a stellar narrator

I've tried reading Wuthering Heights three times before I got to this audiobook. But I'm glad this is the performance that led me to finish the book. Juliet Stevenson does a remarkable job with the characters and language.

Wonderful!

Love Juliet Stevenson narrations!!! Loved her as an actress before, but now I'm trying to find all the books she narrated :) she makes everything sound so real!
The book itself is a gem and something I will listen/read again with a great pleasure!

loved it

I completely agree with Juliet's summary of how her feelings toward the story had changed over the years. Thank you by the way for a beautiful performance. When I first "experienced" this story as a child, it was Laurence Olivier's Heathcliff and I was hooked. Now both he and Cathy seem very different to me. She was a complete narcissist and Heathcliff entirely besotted. I see the villains and heroin very differently now. The Bronte sisters are absolute greats with a common love of dark, brooding men. Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights will always be favourites for me, yet each time I read them, or see a film, my views and alliances change.

Superbly narrated!

Juliet Stevenson brings all the characters to life brilliantly in this story of destructive passion, revenge and haunted lives. Descriptions and dialogue are so detailed that you must concentrate throughout. Recommended
