“I can’t think of a role that I’ve ever played in athletics beyond my SID days where how to communicate, what to communicate, style, tone and in any exchange, listening, wasn’t critical … When you see that (professional opportunity) door crack open, get through there. Once you are there, competency rules. Being good to people, being a good teammate, doing your utmost to do excellent work — that will carry you far.”
