It is "commandment Thursday" and the crucifixion is Friday. Only Precious words are left. He calls this one a MUST DO, a commandment: Love One Another.

In fact, do it so well that the loving becomes a witness to the unbelieving world. They may not understand much, but they WILL UNDERSTAND THIS. Love one another.

My surprise is that when Jesus told the disciples that "someone" would betray Him, they had no idea who this possibly could be! They didn't even have a good guess.

Judas did a spectacular job living a double life, a compromised life. By the time the big betrayal came down the road, he'd made many many micro-betrayal to ease that decision. We can learn from Judas' masterclass in what NOT to do.

An effective KICK is 6x the power of a punch. When we learn Judas "lifted up his HEEL" to Jesus we might pay particular attention. He's the bad example at the washing of the feet.

The good example is Jesus who shows us the necessity of Service.

HIS SERVICE to us is the engine that makes us run to SERVICE.

Having your feet personally washed by the Savior is 100% not optional. Today, He'll tell us that SERVING ONE ANOTHER is 100% not optional. We look to His service to kick us in the rear to get busy in service. New discovery: YOU have the gift of Service!

You gotta love Peter. With one sentence from Jesus, He moves from "You will NEVER wash my feet" to "You should wash my feet and the rest of me NOW".

Today we learn that dirty feet=dirty souls so a spiritual foot washing is 100% required. Like Peter, we might consider moving from NEVER to NOW. Thank you for being here for this beautiful story. Today we hear Jesus Himself say "...I did not come to judge the world..." Why is that? Well, because you are judged already. You have been judged. You stand in current judgment. You will be judged. Yikes.

Fortunately, that is not the end of the story. Yes you stand in judgment, but you also are offered a rescue. Jesus finishes the sentence, "...but to SAVE the world."

What is God's role in human belief?

He will draw the soul of those that will believe. He will harden the heart of those who will not. All who come to Christ do so on the heels of God's enabling grace.

Point #1: You don't have much time. This is no time to be yawning.
