A wonderfully written and narrated story of life in a space faring time. It is part of a series that follows Ishmael Wang and his progress from Able Spacer to Captain and beyond. Of special interest to sci-fi fans who do NOT want chapter upon chapter of space battles, it is a story of everyday folk making a life in the world of space stations and commerce. It follows trials and mishaps as the characters develop in their roles and relationships in situations of space events and drama. Ishmael is a strong character with a good moral code and it is interesting to read how he navigates his way through dilemmas and crew strife. I have read the entire series and it maintains this excellent standard of narrative and character development.
