Our guest today is Karl Jacob - entrepreneur, former Facebook advisor, and current CEO and founder of LoanSnap. Karl's journey reads like a tech industry roadmap: from computer engineer at Apple, to the early chaotic days of Facebook working directly with Mark Zuckerberg, to building his own ventures at the intersection of finance and technology. He’s also the Strategic Advisor for USC’s Information Sciences Institute, where he is helping to explore the exciting world of quantum technology.

In this conversation with FYI Chief Growth Officer Julie Pilat, Karl opens up about the moment he hit a career ceiling at Apple and made the terrifying leap into startup uncertainty. He shares what it was really like in Facebook's early days - far from the Hollywood portrayal in the film "The Social Network" - including the sacrifices, failures, and moral tensions that came with explosive growth.

So whether you're building your first startup, navigating the venture capital world, or simply curious about the human stories behind the tech headlines, this conversation offers rare insights from someone who's been in the room where it happens.

This week’s guest is Rich Orosco, whose path from the entertainment industry to the pitch demonstrates the powerful intersection of compelling content, grassroots organizing, and authentic community building.

Since LAFC's brand launch in October 2019, Rich has championed an approach that might surprise you: instead of massive marketing campaigns, he's focused on something much more personal. Street by street, block by block, conversation by conversation – building a welcoming fan culture that embraces everyone, whether you're a lifelong football fanatic or someone who's never set foot in a stadium.

In our conversation, you'll discover how LAFC's core values of unity, joy, and being a force for good translate into real community impact. We'll explore Rich's "one fan at a time" philosophy and how satisfying a single passionate individual can multiply into exponential growth, both in followers and in the kind of authentic brand passion that money simply can't buy.

This week's guest is the media maverick with boundless curiosity – Jeremy Hecht.

From his small-town beginnings in Winnipeg to becoming a respected voice in music media, Jeremy's journey is a masterclass in persistence and authentic connection.

Starting as an ambitious USC student who crashed celebrity basketball games to meet radio personalities, Jeremy worked his way up through internships at Power 106 and HipHopDX before finding his groove creating viral content. His big break came when his genuine fan questions to G-EAZY created stories that gained significant traction, teaching him that authentic curiosity trumps calculated questioning. Today, Jeremy co-hosts HipHopDX show The Bigger Picture with Elliott Wilson and DJ Hed, as well as his own series Sound Check for Uproxx.

In today's conversation with FYI Chief Growth Officer Julie Pilat, we explore how Jeremy's superpower of boundless curiosity opened doors throughout his career, why his approach to "snackable" content at UPROXX resonates with audiences, and how his show "Sound Check" challenges guests to make tough musical choices that reveal their lifetime anthem.

Get ready for an inspiring look at how staying true to your natural talents can transform passionate fandom into a thriving media career, as we uncover Jeremy Hecht's rise from intern to influencer.
