Trusts come in many different structures that can be incredibly flexible and tax-efficient, but ultimately whether they are appropriate or not often depends on specific business objectives. An Employee Owned Trust provides a structure to purchase a controlling interest in a company at market value without any capital gains tax. As well as the obvious tax advantages, it provides a framework resulting in less disruption, greater confidentiality, and more opportunities for the existing employees and family members to acquire ownership and control.
