About this listen

[Contains sensitive content] To this day dozens of people are dead or missing, and the remains of buildings burned and demolished still dot the small town of Allende. And yet, Mexican authorities seem intent on leaving questions unanswered. The series closes with victims’ families detailing their struggle to untangle what really happened, and the DEA shares an official statement of their role in the tragedy.©2018 Audible Originals, LLC (P)2018 Audible Originals, LLC

This story is hard to hear. It makes me angry with the criminals and the DEA. It moves quickly, but sadly. And in some ways nothing has changed. The corrupt are still corrupt, the DEA refuses to admit the level of responsibility they have, and cartels are still running various Mexican states.

It's well done, but I think it's sad enough that I couldn't listen to it a second time. I probably needed to hear this once. Maybe you do too. I don't know what can be done, though.

Heartbreaking. Makes me angry.
