Nothing much happens: bedtime stories to help you sleep

By: iHeartPodcasts
  • Summary

  • Having trouble sleeping? Join Yoga and meditation teacher Kathryn Nicolai for bedtime stories where nothing much happens to help you relax and sleep peacefully. The stories are a soft landing spot for your mind. Rather than letting your brain race through the same thoughts you’ve been chasing all day, we are taking a detour to a calm and comfy place. We tell the story twice and go a bit slower the second time.

  • September Leaves
    Sep 30 2024

Our story tonight is called September Leaves, and it’s a story about some time outside as the wind blows and the acorns fall. It’s also about the scent of bonfire, the weight of a dog laid across your legs, spaces where you feel you safe and among friends, a memory of last summer and a glimpse of the coming winter.

We give to a different charity each week, and this week we are giving to Equal Justice
Initiative. Protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.

  • Fall Foraging (Encore)
    Sep 26 2024

    Originally Aired: September 24th, 2023 (Season 12, Episode 18)

Our story tonight is called Fall Foraging, and it’s a story about the first signs of the changing seasons and foods that go along with them. It’s also about a tart, lemony spice harvested from a plant growing freely along the road, crabapples, and the bounty of autumn when you know where to look.

  • Lightning Glass
    Sep 23 2024

Our story tonight is called Lightning Glass, and it’s a story about a long beach walk spent looking for something magical after a storm has passed. It’s also about geese flying south for the winter, driftwood, and sandbars, bracing cold water lapping at the shore, and excitement of discovery.

We give to a different charity each week, and this week, we are giving to Hope in a Suitcase; their mission is to provide children and teens in foster care with a suitcase/duffel bag, along with basic essentials and comfort items, to make their transition and circumstances just a little easier.

Kathryn’s method works!!

A beautifully delivered set of stories that really do send me to sleep in the right frame of mind, and also usually leaves me with a snippet of wisdom to think on, the following day. I feel like you’re really someone I know personally. Thank you.

It works

I’ve struggled falling asleep for a long time often laying awake for hours. Over the last couple of months I’ve started using this podcast nightly and now usually fall asleep before I’ve even listened to the first telling of the story. I’m amazed how well this works for me. A huge thanks to the team who make these you are fantastic.

Just the ticket to get to sleep

I’ve been looking for a while for a story that’s calm and quiet, and nothing much happens to help me drift off - this is brilliant! Interesting enough to focus on, nothing exciting enough to stay awake for.
